Preparation

  • Bring the water to a gentle boil in a pot. Once it starts boiling, turn off the heat.
  • Add the dried hibiscus and sliced ginger. Give it a quick stir, then cover the pot. Let it steep for about 12 to 18 minutes.
  • Strain it into a pitcher using a fine mesh strainer. Press the ginger lightly to extract more flavor.
  • Sweeten while it is still warm, starting with a small amount and adjusting to taste.
  • Cool it down by letting the pitcher sit on the counter before refrigerating it.
  • Serve over ice, adding lime juice if desired.
