  • 12 oz Spaghetti noodles
  • 1 lb Ground beef or Italian sausage Or use ground turkey.
  • 24 oz Jarred marinara or pasta sauce Use your favorite.
  • 8 oz Cream cheese Softened for easier mixing.
  • 1/2 cup Sour cream or plain Greek yogurt For a little tang.
  • 2 cloves Garlic Fresh or garlic powder.
  • 1 tbsp Italian seasoning
  • 1/2 tsp Salt
  • 1/4 tsp Pepper
  • 2 cups Shredded mozzarella
  • 1/4 cup Parmesan Optional but recommended.
  • 1 tbsp Butter For richness.

Preparation

  • Boil the spaghetti in salted water until just tender. Drain and toss with butter.
  • Brown the ground meat in a skillet. Drain excess grease, stir in the marinara sauce, garlic, and Italian seasoning. Simmer for a few minutes.
  • In a bowl, mix cream cheese with sour cream. Season with salt and pepper. Add warm pasta water if thick.
  • In a 9x13 baking dish, spread half the spaghetti, then dollop cream cheese mixture over it. Add the remaining spaghetti on top.
  • Pour meat sauce over the spaghetti and top with mozzarella and Parmesan.
  • Bake until hot and bubbly, cover initially to prevent drying, then uncover to brown the cheese.

Note

Let the casserole sit for about 10 minutes before slicing for cleaner squares. Best enjoyed with a side of sauce for reheating leftovers.
